Michael Paul Jones

Director / DP Michael Paul Jones began his career in broadcast journalism, working for CNN and ABC where he won two Emmy awards and an APTRA award for his news journalism coverage of September 11. Jones later worked as an assistant on commercial campaigns and feature films for the late Tony Scott, who inspired and mentored him during his early years in the industry.

Jones is down to earth and can relate to anyone. His films are beautiful and his work is a testament to the land and people's relationships to it. While his films typically feature some outdoor activity, the basis of the stories are always the appreciation of nature and familial relationships. Jones is a true outdoorsman, living in Montana, with his three children.

Directing and shooting commercials, Jones has worked with clients such as: Ford, Subaru, Chevrolet, Target, Fjallraven, NorthFace, Patagonia, Mountain Dew, Yeti, and Oakley. He recently shot second unit for the upcoming “Untouchables” movie starring Bryan Cranston and Kevin Heart, also shooting 2nd Unit for Marc Webb on “Gifted” and lensing shots for Gary Ross on the new “Ocean’s Eight.”
